How does this medication work?

What should I watch for while using this medication?

Before starting Formoterol Fumarate, Foradil/Oxeze/Perforomist make sure your physician is aware of any allergies or medications you currently take, if you have cardiovascular disease, diabetes, exercise-induced bronchospasm, hepatic impairment, hyperthyroidism, hypokalemia and/or seizures.

How should I take this medication?

Oral: Usual: Use one inhalation twice daily (~12 hours apart); maximum dose 2 inhalations twice daily.  Should be used in combination with an inhaled corticosteroid and not as monotherapy.

How to Take:
Foradil Dry Powder Inhaler (capsule): Remove the capsule from the blister pack prior to use.  Place the capsule into the chamber of the Aerolizer inhaler; close the inhaler and pierce the capsule.  Take a deep inhalation through the mouthpiece; hold your breath as long as you can.  Repeat if any powder remains in the capsule.  Throw away the empty capsule.

Oxeze Turbuhaler: Hold the turbuhaler upright and turn the colored grip as far as it will go in one direction and then turn back to original position; a clicking sound indicates that the turbuhaler is ready to be used.  Take a deep inhalation through the mouthpiece; hold your breath as long as you can.

If the turbuhaler is accidentally dropped or shaken, or if you exhale into the mouthpiece, the dose will be lost and a new dose needs to be loaded.

You Need to Avoid:  Do not wash the mouthpiece; clean the outside once weekly with a dry tissue.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose of medication, try to take it as soon as possible.  However, if it is almost time for your next dose, take only that scheduled dose.  Do not take double or extra doses.

How should I store this medication?

Keep out of the reach of children at all times. Store at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F) protected from heat and moisture.
